Identity verification (KYC) at OKX works differently from most exchanges. There are no Lv.1 or Lv.2 tiers: you complete one identity verification, and OKX may later trigger extra tasks such as proof of address or source of funds depending on your region, activity and risk profile. Your daily withdrawal limit is not tied to KYC at all; it follows your fee tier. This guide is based on the OKX Help Center, the OKX privacy statement and the public data behind the official fees page. It covers what to submit, how to photograph your ID so it is not rejected, how long review takes, what to do if your identity is already linked to another account, and how your ID and face data are handled. Everything is current as of 2026-09-28; the verification page in the OKX app is the final word.
One thing to settle before you start: an OKX referral code can only be entered when the account is created, and there is no way to add one after KYC either. If you have not signed up yet, register OKX with the code NOVA888 first and every trading fee you pay comes with a 20% auto-rebate.
Key facts
| Question | OKX rule (as of 2026-09-28) |
|---|---|
| What can I do without KYC? | No crypto deposits, withdrawals or P2P (C2C) trades; trading also requires verification |
| How many levels? | No levels: one identity verification, then possible requests for proof of address, source of funds or questionnaires |
| What do I submit? | Basic details, a government-issued ID and a face check; proof of address in some regions |
| Review time | About 30 seconds after upload; up to 24 hours if further review is needed |
| 24-hour withdrawal limit | Set by fee tier; regular users 10 million USD (official fees data) |
| How many accounts per ID? | One identity can verify one main individual account; compliant sub-accounts are not affected |
| Minimum age | 18 |
No KYC levels at OKX: one verification plus tasks that may be triggered later
Many guides still describe "KYC 1 / KYC 2" at OKX. Those are legacy names: a 2023 OKX notice mentioned a lifetime P2P buying cap for KYC 1 users, but the current Help Center has a single individual identity verification (called advanced identity verification in English), and you can trade, deposit and withdraw only after it is done. After approval, OKX may ask for more:
| Item | When you meet it | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Identity verification | Before using the account (mandatory) | Basic details, government ID upload, face check; proof of address in some regions |
| C2C video verification | When buying crypto via C2C | Record a video under C2C > Me > C2C video verification; the system reads a risk warning and you answer "yes"; usually reviewed within 24 hours |
| Additional verification | When the platform periodically checks account compliance | Proof of address, source of funds and wealth, employment history or a politically exposed person (PEP) questionnaire; reviewed within 24 hours |
| Re-verification / refresh | ID expiry, rule changes or a clear change in activity | Update your ID, address or occupation, or redo the face check as the page asks |
OKX describes KYC as a continuous process, not a one-off task. An expired ID, new local regulations, or a big shift in trading volume and fund flows can all lead to requests for updated details or extra documents (enhanced due diligence, EDD). The English Help Center states that an account may be frozen if re-verification is not completed within the grace period, but you can still withdraw your funds while frozen, and full access returns once you pass. When an update notice arrives, check the deadline and do not leave it to the last day.

Before and after verification: what you can do and how much you can withdraw
The Chinese Help Center says users who have not completed identity verification cannot deposit, withdraw or trade on C2C; the English page says you can trade, deposit and withdraw after verification. In short, a new account has no "try it first without KYC" option, so verification is the first thing to do after signing up.
After verification, OKX says your 24-hour withdrawal limit "is determined by your fee tier", not by any KYC level. The table below shows the limits read on 2026-09-28 from the data source behind the official fees page (USD):
| Fee tier | 24-hour withdrawal limit |
|---|---|
| Regular user | 10 million |
| VIP1 | 20 million |
| VIP2 | 24 million |
| VIP3 | 32 million |
| VIP4 | 40 million |
| VIP5 | 48 million |
| VIP6 | 60 million |
| VIP7 | 72 million |
| VIP8, VIP9 | 80 million |
The VIP benefits table in the Help Center shows a dash for regular users; the 10 million USD figure comes from the fees data endpoint. The amount you can actually use is shown as the 24-hour available limit on the right side of the web withdrawal page. For how VIP tiers work and what each tier pays, see OKX VIP levels and fees. If you are already a VIP on another exchange or trade large volumes, contact Quant Nova support: we work directly with exchange teams to request benefits such as a VIP tier trial for you (final benefits are decided by the exchange).
Once limits are sorted, fees are what shape your long-term cost: register with NOVA888 and every OKX trading fee earns a 20% auto-rebate; for our exclusive OKX rewards and promotions, contact support.
What to prepare
Basic details
Country of residence, nationality, local-language name (if applicable), full name, date of birth, ID number and type, and residential address. Everything must match your ID. If you hold more than one nationality, OKX suggests using the one most closely tied to your identity.
ID document: the most common reasons for rejection
- At least 60 days of validity left: OKX requires the remaining validity of the ID to be 60 days or more, so renew an ID that is about to expire first.
- Original document, in color: screenshots, photos of photos, photocopies and black-and-white images are not accepted. An ID shown on another screen or a digital ID inside another app cannot replace the original unless the page explicitly offers that option.
- All four corners in frame: full name, date of birth, expiry date and portrait must be clear. Cards with a back side usually need both sides; for a passport, only the photo page.
- Signed passport: a passport without your signature will be rejected.
- Readable script: IDs in scripts the system cannot read (OKX gives Arabic, Sinhala and Burmese as examples) are rejected; OKX suggests an ID with Latin characters or an international passport instead.
Selfie and face check
Keep your whole face inside the oval, with no mask, hat or glasses and no flash glare. Only one person may be in the frame; turn your head slowly as prompted. Some flows ask for a selfie holding your ID: use the same ID, photo side facing the camera, fingers off the details. OKX says the selfie is compared with your ID photo, stored securely and never disclosed to third parties.
Proof of address (some regions, or when requested)
The document must show your verified name and full current address and be issued within the last 3 months (6 months for EEA users). Only photos of paper documents or original PDFs are accepted; re-photographed images, handwriting and screenshots are not.
| Accepted | Not accepted |
|---|---|
| Driver's license, government ID showing an address | Bank account opening letter |
| Bank or credit card statement | Digital driver's license |
| Utility bills such as water, power, gas or broadband | Online payment receipts or screenshots |
| Stamped, signed lease with rental period (at least 2 months left) | Online shopping or food delivery receipts |
| Tax bill, payslip, valid insurance contract | Mobile phone bills or invoices |
The address does not have to match the one printed on your ID: after a move, proof of where you actually live now is enough. OKX explains that proof of address is used to confirm you do not live in a jurisdiction where it does not operate.
Which IDs can users in Taiwan use?
OKX does not publish a per-country list. Instead, once you choose your actual country of residence and nationality on the verification page, it shows the ID types available to you. Common types are passports, national ID cards, driver's licenses, residence permits and other government-issued documents, but the options for Taiwan residents are whatever the app shows on the verification page. OKX also warns against picking another country, nationality or ID type to get around an option that is not available.
One case matters for Traditional Chinese names: among the failure cases OKX lists is "Traditional or rare characters cannot be recognized", or a message that details do not match. The official fix is to contact live support, not to rewrite your name and resubmit.

How long review takes and how to resubmit after a rejection
Processing takes about 30 seconds after upload; if further review is needed it can take up to 24 hours, with the result sent by SMS or email, and waits can be longer when the market is busy. If the page shows "Submitted" or "Under review" with no new task, OKX asks you not to submit the same documents again. If nothing appears after the time shown, contact official support with your submission date and the status on the page.
Common rejection reasons listed by OKX, and what to do:
| Rejection reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| ID expired, too little validity left or not supported | Use a listed ID with at least 60 days left |
| Blurry, cropped, glare or missing pages | Retake color photos of the original with all four corners |
| Entered details do not match the ID | Type name, date of birth and ID number exactly as on the ID |
| Face check failed | Good light, no accessories, only you in frame |
| Under 18 or restricted region | Apply once you turn 18; restricted regions cannot use the service |
| Identity already used on another account | See the next section on one account per person |
After fixing the issue, resubmit from the identity verification page. If the app cannot upload photos, does not respond or cannot open the camera, OKX suggests updating to the latest app, allowing camera access and reinstalling if needed (back up your seed phrase and private keys first if you use OKX Wallet). Twins or relatives flagged as duplicates because of similar names or birthdays can ask live support for a manual review with their own ID details.
One account per person: when your identity is already in use
The rule at OKX is that, within the same service entity, one identity can verify only one main individual account; compliant sub-accounts are not affected. OKX also states that verified identity information is, in principle, not changed or revoked once completed, and swapping the person or the ID on an account is not allowed.
If a new account shows "this ID has been verified by another account", the page displays the masked email or phone number of the verified account:
- It is your old account: OKX recommends continuing to use the verified account. If you cannot log in to it, you can migrate the phone number or email from the new account to the verified one.
- You do not recognize it: submit a review through the identity-occupied entry on the verification page, or contact support; you may need a live face check and an explanation of why that account is not yours.
If you opened the new account with a referral code, be careful: the OKX Help Center states that after a phone or email migration the unverified account is closed and the referral relationship of the unverified account cannot be transferred. In other words, the code on the new account disappears with it. To move a verified old account to NOVA888 rebates, follow the methods in the OKX rebind guide instead of migrating.
On closing an account: OKX says that after you close an account yourself, a cooling-off period applies during which the same phone number, email or identity cannot be used to register again. Its note on account closure and cooling-off periods gives the current cooling-off period as 7 days, which may vary by region; follow what your account page shows. An account closed by OKX cannot be reactivated, and its identity cannot be used to register again. Merging accounts or moving KYC to another account is not a regular self-service feature, according to OKX.

Changing your name, an expired ID, or moving abroad
- Name change: in some regions you can use the Legal name option on the verification page for genuine legal-name changes, spelling, transliteration or name-order corrections of the same person, with an official document showing the correct name. If the option is not shown, contact support.
- Expired ID: complete the update task on the verification page with the renewed original and any face check it asks for.
- Moving to another country: you can change residence only when the prompt appears. First complete or cancel open orders and Earn products and switch to Spot mode if the page requires it. Residence changes are limited in number, and short trips do not need one.
- Re-verification that requires clearing assets: some re-verification flows require you to move assets out first, and this step cannot be skipped. Dust you cannot withdraw can be forfeited on the page, which cannot be undone.
- No proxies: OKX discusses account or verification details only with the account holder and does not accept others contacting support on your behalf.
How your data is handled: what the OKX privacy statement says
- Third-party verification vendors: the OKX privacy statement says it currently uses Au10tix, Jumio and Sumsub for identity verification, and these vendors may process your data, including biometric data, under their own privacy terms.
- Data may be stored abroad: collected data may be transferred to and stored outside your country of residence.
- Closing the account does not mean deletion: even after closure, records used for customer identification and due diligence may be kept for the statutory period required by anti-money-laundering rules.
- Security measures: encrypted website communication, mandatory two-factor authentication on all sessions, and access to personal data granted only on a need-to-know basis to staff and vendors bound by confidentiality.
What you control is where you upload: submit your ID and face only on the verification page of the official OKX app or website, never send ID photos to anyone claiming to be support, and never post them in chats.

Taiwan compliance and scam prevention
As of 2026-09-28, OKX is not on the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) list of virtual asset service providers that have completed AML registration (list updated 2026-09-03). For the list and each exchange's status, see Offshore Crypto Exchanges in Taiwan: FSC Register Check.
- Upload only through official channels: OKX states its only official domain is www.okx.com. Check any "verification link", group or support account you are sent with OKX official channel verification.
- No KYC "services" over private messages: OKX staff never ask for passwords, codes, seed phrases or private keys, and never ask you to transfer funds. Do not hand your ID or face to anyone offering to "pass KYC for you" or open an account for you.
- Never use someone else's identity: verification must use the account holder's own ID and the holder's own face check. If you used a relative's or friend's ID, OKX asks you to stop and submit an identity ownership correction review, and the account may stay restricted during the review.
- Paying to withdraw is a scam: an FSC press release of 2025-09-22 warns that scammers lure people into buying virtual assets with promises of guaranteed or high, low-risk returns, then demand "unfreezing fees", deposits or taxes before any payout (FSC press release).
An ID photo plus your face is the whole identity of an account. Letting someone else "handle" it lets them open accounts and receive money in your name, and when something goes wrong, the name on the account is yours.
KYC and rebates
KYC only proves you are you. Rebates follow the referral code entered at registration, and how far you get in verification does not change your rebate rate. What matters is the order: the code can only be entered when the account is created, so remembering it after KYC is too late. Register OKX with NOVA888 for a 20% auto-rebate; for our exclusive OKX rewards and promotions, contact support. See OKX invite code NOVA888 for how to enter the code; if you already have an OKX account, follow the OKX rebind guide.
FAQ
Can I trade on OKX without KYC?
No. The OKX Help Center says unverified users cannot deposit, withdraw or trade on C2C, and trading is available only after verification.
How long does OKX KYC take?
About 30 seconds after upload, and up to 24 hours if further review is needed. C2C video verification and additional verification are also usually reviewed within 24 hours.
Can I use a Taiwan ID card for OKX KYC?
OKX does not publish a per-country list. After you choose your residence and nationality, the verification page lists the ID types you can use, so go by what the app shows. If Traditional or rare characters are not recognized, contact live support.
How many OKX accounts can one ID verify?
One. An identity can be used for only one main individual account, and duplicate verification is rejected; use sub-accounts if you need several trading accounts.
Can I use an ID that is about to expire?
It needs at least 60 days of validity left, or it will be rejected. For an already verified account, complete the update task on the verification page when your ID expires.
Does OKX KYC affect my rebate?
No. Rebates follow the code entered at registration; KYC only affects whether you can trade and withdraw. Just make sure the code is entered when you sign up.
