Since January 1, 2024, Bitget has made identity verification (KYC) a precondition for deposits and trading. Its rules include a few details that are rare elsewhere: at most 5 attempts every 24 hours, one verified Bitget account per person, a 30-day wait to re-verify on a different UID after a reset, and a 30-day block on re-registering with the same ID after you delete an account. Based on the Bitget Help Center, Terms of Service and privacy notice, this guide covers the three layers of verification (individual verification, proof of address, enhanced due diligence), what each one needs, how to fix the six common rejection reasons, and how limits and personal data are handled. Data is current as of 2026-09-28.
Link Bitget through NOVA888 and new users get a 40% futures rebate at Lv.1, twice the common 20% referral code; the code must be entered at registration, and KYC itself does not affect rebates (see the end of this guide).
Bitget KYC in numbers
| Item | Official rule (as of 2026-09-28) |
|---|---|
| Unverified accounts | No deposits and no trading (since 2024-01-01) |
| Review time | FAQ: usually within 60 minutes; KYC guides: usually 1 business day |
| Daily attempts | Up to 5 within 24 hours; if all fail, wait another 24 hours |
| Accounts per person | One verified Bitget account per user; sub-accounts inherit main-account permissions |
| 24-hour withdrawal limit after KYC | VIP0 3 million USDT, VIP7 20 million USDT |
| Minimum age | 18 |
| Identity reset | Usually 1 to 3 business days; re-verifying on another UID needs approval and a 30-day wait |
| Account deletion | The same phone number, email or ID cannot register again for 30 days |
Three layers: individual verification, proof of address, enhanced due diligence
The Bitget Help Center splits KYC into three parts. Most users only need the first; the other two apply when regulation or account risk calls for them.
| Layer | Who needs it | What to submit | What it unlocks or prevents |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual verification | All individual users | Country of residence and issuing country, ID type, full name, ID photos, facial verification | Deposits, trading, on-chain withdrawals and P2P |
| Proof of address (POA) | Users asked for it for regulatory or compliance reasons | An address document from the last 3 months with the same name as your KYC | Keeps account details accurate and compliant |
| Enhanced due diligence (EDD) | Higher-risk customers, transactions or account activity | Proof of address, source of funds (SOF) and source of wealth (SOW) | If not done by the deadline, features such as trading may be restricted |
What can an unverified account do, and how much can you withdraw after KYC?
A Bitget notice dated 2023-09-30 said users without level 1 identity verification could no longer deposit or trade, while withdrawals would remain unaffected. The current individual verification FAQ says that since January 1, 2024, identity verification is required for core services such as crypto deposits and trading, and it lists enabling on-chain withdrawals as a benefit of verification. The two documents are from different dates, but for a new account the conclusion is the same: complete individual verification right after signing up, before you deposit or place an order.
After verification, the 24-hour withdrawal limit rises with your VIP level:
| VIP level | 24-hour withdrawal limit (USDT) |
|---|---|
| VIP0 | 3 million |
| VIP1 | 4 million |
| VIP2 | 6 million |
| VIP3 | 8 million |
| VIP4 | 10 million |
| VIP5 | 12 million |
| VIP6 | 15 million |
| VIP7 | 20 million |
The official Bitget fees page has the latest limits; for VIP requirements and fees, see Bitget VIP tiers. If you are already a VIP on another exchange or trade large volumes, contact Quant Nova support: we work directly with exchange teams to request benefits such as a VIP tier trial for you (final benefits are decided by the exchange).
Two more features depend on verification: P2P requires completed KYC and a linked phone number, and sub-accounts cannot be verified on their own but automatically inherit the main account's permissions once it is verified. Bitget recommends opening sub-accounts rather than registering another account if you need several trading accounts. Once verified you can start trading, and with NOVA888 new users get 40% back on every futures fee.
How to complete individual verification: web versus app
- Open the verification page: in the app, tap Verify on the home page or Unverified in the account center; on the web, click your profile icon at the top right, then Identity Verification, then Verify under Individual Verification.
- Choose country and ID: select your country or region of residence and the issuing country or region, then the ID type. Bitget notes that accepted ID types vary by country.
- Enter your full name: it must match your ID exactly; a middle name goes after your first name.
- Photograph your ID: the web version shows a QR code that you scan with your phone to continue; in the app you shoot directly. Keep the images clear and uncropped, and allow camera access.
- Facial verification: Bitget suggests a plain white background, good light without backlighting, no hats, glasses or other accessories, your face centered, and following prompts such as turning your head or blinking.
- Submit: the status changes to Under Review, and you get an email when you are approved or when more information is needed.

Which IDs can users in Taiwan use?
Bitget does not publish a per-country list and only says that accepted ID types vary by country, so which of the national ID card, passport or driver's license Taiwan users can pick is whatever the app's verification page shows. Eligibility is easier to check: in its article on common KYC rejection reasons, Bitget lists the countries and regions it cannot serve for regulatory reasons, including Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, the United States, Canada, France and Germany. Taiwan is not on that list.
Pay attention to the language of your name. Bitget lists "name discrepancies, such as a missing middle name or a different language" as a rejection reason and requires the name to match your ID exactly. Whichever document you choose, type the name the way that document shows it, and do not mix a Chinese name with its romanized spelling.
Six common rejection reasons and how to resubmit
| Reason | Typical problem | Official fix |
|---|---|---|
| Personal information | Missing or wrong name, date of birth or address; missing middle name or different language | Fill every field exactly as on the ID |
| Document quality | Blurry, cropped, low-resolution or black-and-white images | High-resolution, uncropped color images |
| Document validity | Expired or unsupported; only one side of a two-sided ID; corners cut off | A valid ID, all required pages, all four corners visible |
| Selfie and face recognition | Missing or blurry selfie with ID; poor light or obstructions | Good light, no hat or glasses, face and ID details clearly visible |
| Eligibility and region | Restricted country, under 18, politically exposed or sanctioned person | Confirm your region is supported and you meet the age rule |
| Duplicate or shared documents | ID already used by another Bitget account | Use your ID only for your own account |

When an application is rejected, Bitget states the reason in an account notification or email; fix it and resubmit. Keep the attempt limit in mind: up to 5 attempts within 24 hours, and if all fail you wait another 24 hours, so checking the photos and details before each submission works better than retrying in a row. If review takes longer than expected, submit a ticket with your UID.
Proof of address and EDD: what to prepare when asked
Proof of address
Path: on the identity verification page, click Update now, then Start verification, then upload and submit. The document must be issued within the last 3 months, clearly show your full name, residential address and issue date, and the name must match your KYC document. Generally accepted categories:
- Government documents: IDs showing an address, subsidies, voter registration, tax documents, vehicle registration.
- Utility bills: water, gas, telephone, internet, television license or home repair bills.
- Bank documents: bank statements, mortgage repayment documents.
- Others: documents from employers or schools, lease or tenancy agreements.
Bitget notes that accepted categories can vary by jurisdiction (proof of address guide).
Enhanced due diligence (EDD)
In the app, EDD has three steps: proof of address, source of funds (SOF) and source of wealth (SOW). For each, you choose the source from a drop-down list, upload matching documents, and finally submit for review. Common sources and documents:
| Source | Documents you can submit |
|---|---|
| Savings | Bank statements |
| Salary, bonuses, dividends | Payslips, bank statements, tax documents |
| Business income | Financial statements or profit and loss statements |
| Investments | Investment or brokerage statements, bank statements, share certificates |
| Gifts | Written proof of the gifted funds |
| Real estate, asset sales or rentals | Property transaction records, sale agreements, leases producing rental income |
| Inheritance | Grant of probate, will or inheritance documents |
- Formats: JPG, PNG or PDF; split any file over 20 MB into smaller uploads.
- Language: documents do not have to be in English as long as key details are clear; certified translations are usually not needed.
- Redaction: you may hide unrelated sensitive data such as unrelated transactions, but your name, address, account number, issuer and relevant transactions must stay fully visible; over-redaction can make a document invalid.
- Screenshots: accepted only when all required information is clearly visible.
- Deadline: if EDD is not completed in time, some features such as trading may be restricted until it is.

One account per person: name changes, identity reset and deletion
Section 5.3 of the Bitget Terms of Service states that an individual user may not hold more than one account, and the terms list more than one natural person using the same account as a ground for suspension. The Help Center likewise says using the same ID for multiple accounts leads to rejection. To change verified details, Bitget offers these routes:
| Route | When it applies | Key points |
|---|---|---|
| Edit name | KYC name does not match your legal name | Use Edit Name on the individual verification page with the correct name and supporting documents |
| Reset identity verification | Change of nationality, lost or renewed ID, change of name language | Apply in the self-service section with a face check matching the previous one; usually 1 to 3 business days; the account is unverified meanwhile and cannot deposit or trade, while assets and trading history are unaffected |
| Delete the account | You no longer want to use it | Withdraw funds and close positions first; review within 24 hours; verified identity information is deleted; the same phone number, email or ID cannot register again for 30 days |
After a reset you can re-verify on the same UID without restriction; re-verifying on a different UID needs approval and a 30-day wait. Bitget recommends a valid new ID for the new verification, and whether the old one is accepted depends on review. The Help Center has no self-service feature for moving KYC to another account. Sources: resetting identity verification, deleting a Bitget account.
Plan the order before switching rebates: Bitget allows one verified account per person, and the same ID cannot register again for 30 days after deletion. To move an existing account to NOVA888 rebates, follow the Bitget rebind guide; do not open a new account first and then try to verify it with the same ID.
Data protection: what Bitget collects and how long it keeps it
- What is collected: the privacy notice (updated 2025-12-05) lists identity data such as name, date of birth, national ID card, passport or driver's license and ID number, plus biometric data including an image of your face and a liveness check video.
- Encryption: all sensitive personal data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with access limited to staff, contractors and service providers who need it and are bound by confidentiality.
- Retention: under the Seychelles anti-money-laundering law, some personal data is kept for at least seven years after the business relationship ends, possibly longer where law requires; where a dispute may arise, related records can be kept for up to ten years. After that, data is deleted or anonymized.
- After deletion: the account deletion guide says verified identity information is deleted and trading history and identity data can no longer be accessed; the privacy notice adds the legal retention duties above. Read together, you lose access after deletion, but the parts that AML rules require to be kept are retained for the required period.
Taiwan compliance and scam prevention
As of 2026-09-28, Bitget is not on the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) list of virtual asset service providers that have completed AML registration (list updated 2026-09-03). For the list and each exchange's status, see Offshore Crypto Exchanges in Taiwan: FSC Register Check.
- Upload only in the official app or website: complete ID upload and facial verification only on the Bitget verification page of the account you are logged in to; on the web, scan only the QR code generated on your own logged-in page.
- No KYC "services" over private messages: never hand your ID or face to anyone offering to "pass verification for you" or open an account on your behalf.
- Never use someone else's identity or lend your account: the Terms of Service allow suspension when several people use one account, and the Help Center says an ID may only be used for the holder's own account.
- Paying to withdraw is a scam: an FSC press release of 2025-09-22 warns that scammers lure people into buying virtual assets with promises of guaranteed or high, low-risk returns, then demand "unfreezing fees", deposits or taxes before any payout (FSC press release).
Bitget's verification flow only appears inside the account you are logged in to. Anyone asking you to send ID photos, selfies or a QR code to a chat window is not following a Bitget process.
KYC and rebates
Rebates follow the referral code entered at registration, not your KYC progress. Link Bitget through NOVA888 and the futures rebate is 40% for new users at Lv.1, 45% at SVIP (reached through trading volume) and 50% at the invite-only Supernova level, 2 to 2.5 times the common 20% code; spot is 40% at Lv.1 and 45% at SVIP and Supernova, settled daily. Bitget has no public way to add a referral code later, so enter it when you register. See Bitget invite code NOVA888 for the code, Bitget fee rebate guide for levels and examples, and the Bitget rebind guide if you already have an account. Rates are set by the exchange and may change; the rebate rates page is the reference.
