MEXC Copy Trade does one thing: it copies USDT-M perpetual futures. MEXC's lead trader guide states that copy trading currently supports only USDT-M futures in hedge mode, so there is no spot copy trading; the separate "AI Model Copy Trade" section also trades futures. This guide follows MEXC's own copy trade page, tutorials and rule articles (as of 2026-09-28) and covers what a follower actually deals with: the 30 USDT minimum, three copy modes, every option on the settings page, how profit share is deducted, the copy trade bonus, and how copy trading fees relate to fee rebates. Bind MEXC with mexc-NOVA888 and new users get a 50% futures fee rebate from Lv.1, 2.5x the common 20% referral code; whether copy trading fees count toward the rebate is not spelled out in MEXC's terms, so the settlement records decide (see below).

The money flow works like this: you keep USDT in your Spot account, and when you submit copy settings the system moves the amount you chose into a separate copy trading sub-account. If losses later push the balance below 30 USDT, copying continues normally, but you can no longer reduce the balance further through fund adjustments. You can see the trader's profit share, but the trading fee is paid on every open and every close, and the more actively you copy, the more you pay.
The copy settings page: what each option does
On the web the path is Futures → Copy Trade; pick a trader and click Copy Trade to open the parameter settings page. In the app it is More → Copy Trade from the home screen. On the left you choose which futures pairs to copy (or All); on the right are the settings below (official terms explained).
Three copy modes
- Smart Ratio: mirrors the trader's fund allocation. If the trader has 1,000 USDT and uses 100 USDT (10%) on a trade, and your copy sub-account holds 110 USDT, your order uses 11 USDT.
- Fixed Amount: every order uses the margin you set. Set 50 USDT and each copied trade uses 50 USDT of margin, whatever the trader's size.
- Fixed Ratio: your order quantity equals the trader's filled quantity times your multiplier. Set 0.7, and a 100-contract trader order becomes 70 contracts for you.
Risk and margin options
- Account Stop-Loss: when your copy account equity reaches the threshold you set (in USDT or as a percentage), the copy relationship is cancelled, all positions close at market and the remaining assets return to your Spot account. Because of market moves, the final equity may differ slightly from the preset value.
- Trader liquidation settings: with Follow to Close, your copied position closes when the trader's position is liquidated. With Do Not Follow, your position stays open, and the system notifies you to manage it under My Copy Trades → Current, where you can enable Auto Margin Addition or close it.
- Maximum Ratio per Order: when a single order's cost reaches your maximum asset ratio, the order is placed at that cap, preventing oversized trades.
- Margin mode: follow the trader (isolated if the trader uses isolated, cross if cross), or always cross, or always isolated.
- Isolated margin settings: Do Not Adjust Margin, Auto Margin Addition, or Base on Trader's Settings. MEXC warns that Auto Margin Addition lowers liquidation risk but, in extreme markets, you could lose all funds allocated to that trader.
- Leverage and slippage: copy orders are IOC limit orders that follow your slippage setting. If nothing matches within that range, the order is cancelled automatically and the copy trade is marked as failed.
- TP/SL: can be set globally across all copied orders or per position; copy activity notifications arrive by email, push and in-app messages.
Account Stop-Loss is the most important field in MEXC copy trading: it is a stop line for the whole copy account, and when it triggers the copy relationship ends, not just one trade. When the trader closes, your copied position closes too; when the trader partially closes, yours is partially closed in the same proportion.
How profit share works: pre-freeze, settlement and caps
Profit share is the percentage of your copy trading profit paid to the trader. Public traders can set up to 15%; private traders (followed only by invited users and not shown on the leaderboards) can set up to 50%. The default is 10%, and a trader can apply to change it at most once a day. Private traders can also restrict following to users who registered with their own referral code.
Settlement runs in three steps (official profit-share rules):
- Pre-freeze: when you fully close a position and realized profit since the last settlement is above 0, part of that profit is frozen in an intermediary account based on the profit share ratio.
- Daily settlement: between 16:00 and 17:00 UTC each day, covering the previous day. Profit is shared only if total realized profit from all fully closed positions since the last settlement is above 0.
- Refund of the difference: the pre-frozen amount minus the trader's actual share is refunded to your USDT-M futures account.
Details that catch people out: partially closed positions are not eligible for profit share, and if you still have open positions tied to that trader at settlement, settlement is deferred to the next settlement day; if you unfollow, profit share settles immediately. MEXC's example (1,000 USDT initial, 10% ratio, in USDT):
| Day | Daily PnL | Cumulative PnL since last share | Paid to trader | Assets after share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | +200 | +200 | 20 | 1,180 |
| Day 2 | −150 | −150 | 0 | 1,030 |
| Day 3 | +100 | −50 | 0 | 1,130 |
| Day 4 | +100 | +50 | 5 | 1,225 |
On Day 4 only the 50 USDT above the last benchmark is charged at 10%; after that, profit share applies again only once assets exceed 1,225 USDT. MEXC notes that the example excludes all trading-related fees.
Private traders don't appear in the copy trade marketplace or leaderboard, and can limit copying to users who registered with their referral code. Before joining one, check the profit share on the settings page: the public cap is 15%, the private cap 50%.
Copy trade bonus: it can pay fees, with a catch
MEXC has a trial fund usable only for copy trading, the Copy Trade bonus. According to MEXC's explanation, the bonus is used first when you enter a copy amount or add funds; it can serve as opening margin and can be deducted for trading fees, closing losses and funding fees; it cannot be withdrawn, transferred or used outside copy trading, although profits made with it can be withdrawn freely; unused bonus expires automatically, and bonus already used is not refunded when you reduce your copy amount. For example, if you invest 50 USDT in total and 20 USDT is bonus, you only put in 30 USDT yourself.
Copy trading fees and rebates
The FAQ on MEXC's copy trade page is direct: beyond standard trading fees, funding fees and profit share, followers pay no other charges. In other words, copy trading orders still incur futures trading fees, and profit share is taken separately from profits. MEXC futures fees differ by pair and some pairs run zero-fee campaigns, so check the MEXC fee page and the order page for actual rates.
Do copy trading fees count toward rebates? MEXC's affiliate FAQ does not mention copy trading separately, but it states three general rules that affect commission: commission is based on actual fees paid, not trading volume, so zero-fee pairs generate none; no commission is generated on fees offset by bonuses used by referred users; and trades placed via API do not count. Applied to copy trading: copy trading orders still incur futures trading fees; whether they count toward your rebate is determined by the settlement records, and support can confirm if in doubt; fees paid with the copy trade bonus generate no rebate under the general rule above.
For scale: assume 100,000 USDT of copied futures volume a month at an average fee rate of 0.04%, which is 40 USDT in fees. If those fees count, binding with mexc-NOVA888 returns 20 USDT at Lv.1 (50%), 22 USDT at SVIP (55%) and 24 USDT at Supernova (60%, invitation only). Tiers, payout timing and full scenarios are in the MEXC fee rebate guide and the code in MEXC referral code mexc-NOVA888; MEXC lets you link an inviter within 30 days of registration, and after that see the MEXC rebind guide.
Choosing a trader: reading the detail page
The copy trade home page groups traders by overall ranking, highest ROI, highest PNL and most followers. Trader cards show 7-day ROI, 7-day PNL, 7-day win rate, trading frequency, profit share ratio and follower count, and All Traders can be sorted by 7-day PNL, total ROI, total win rate and more. On the detail page, MEXC defines the fields as follows (official guide to choosing a trader):
- Total ROI: total profit divided by the sum of historical margin used for lead trading.
- PNL Ratio: total profit divided by total loss. MEXC points out that a high win rate does not guarantee overall profit; a trader with small wins and large losses can still underperform.
- Total win rate: the share of closed orders with positive PNL.
- Trading frequency: average trades per week in the selected period, useful for telling short-term high-frequency traders from mid to long-term ones.
- Followers' PNL: cumulative PNL of all followers since the trader started leading.
- Size of lead trades: total assets in all current followers' copy accounts, alongside the trader's total futures equity and most recent trade time.
- Futures preference and holding duration: closed-order statistics by contract, plus holding time and ROI per order and per position.
The VS button at the top right of the detail page compares several traders' basic information and trading statistics side by side, and if a trader is full you can turn on a Slot Reminder. MEXC also advises not to chase short-term gains and to read 7-day and 180-day data together.
Becoming a trader: requirements and limits
- Application: 100,000 USDT trading volume over the last 3 weeks, or at least 300 USDT in current futures assets. To stay active you must keep at least 50 USDT in futures assets (including unrealized PNL), respect each pair's maximum leverage and trade in hedge mode.
- One role at a time: you cannot be copying anyone when you apply, and once you are a trader you can no longer copy other traders.
- Managing followers: at 900 followers you can apply for a higher limit; a follower can be removed only if they have no active copy positions and their copy account equity is below 5 USDT.
- API lead trading: currently available only to VVIP Elite Traders, whose profiles show an "API Lead Trade" tag.
The AI Model Copy Trade section places several AI models and traders on one competition board; the AI models each trade futures with equal amounts of real capital, and following them works like regular copy trading (official explanation).
Risks and limits
MEXC's article on copy trade advantages and risks lists the main follower risks: trading decisions sit with the trader and you control only the parameters; past performance does not predict future results; you may not get the trader's price or may not get filled at all (slippage, delays, thin depth), especially in illiquid contracts; and systemic events such as black swans cannot be anticipated. Two practical points:
- Failed copies: an IOC limit order that does not fill within your slippage range is cancelled, and that trade is not re-copied.
- Unfollowing: the tutorials state that unfollowing settles profit share immediately but do not say what happens to open positions; check My Copy Trades → Current before you unfollow.
With Do Not Follow, your position stays open after the trader is liquidated; if Auto Margin Addition is also on, MEXC warns you could lose all funds allocated to that trader in extreme markets. If you choose Do Not Follow, watch your positions yourself.
FAQ
What is the minimum for MEXC copy trading?
At least 30 USDT in the Spot account and a minimum copy amount of 30 USDT; later adjustments cannot take the copy amount below 30 USDT.
Does MEXC have spot copy trading?
MEXC's lead trader guide says copy trading currently supports only USDT-M futures in hedge mode, so there is no spot copy trading.
Do I pay profit share when I lose money?
No. Cumulative realized PNL since the last profit share must be above 0. Nothing is shared during losses, and sharing resumes only once assets exceed the last post-share benchmark.
When is profit share deducted?
Profit is pre-frozen when you close a position in profit, settled daily between 16:00 and 17:00 UTC, and any excess frozen amount is refunded to your USDT-M futures account; unfollowing settles immediately.
Do copy trading fees earn a rebate?
Copy trading orders still incur futures trading fees. MEXC's affiliate documentation does not mention copy trading separately, so whether they count is determined by the settlement records; ask support if in doubt. Under MEXC's general rules, zero-fee pairs and fees paid with bonuses generate no commission.
